![Movies seen in 2012 - #20: Project X (2012) [Early Review]
Project X is by all means not perfect. If you’re looking for story, don’t be surprised if you don’t find any. The main characters are the same archetypes from plenty of teen comedies that have come and gone, and this movie just throws them right into the predicament that they get into.
That being said, since this movie is an exercise in the outmost ways of debauchery (which has recently become one of my guilty pleasures), seeing this movie was certainly a treat for me. Project X was apparently inspired by the Corey Delaney incident of 2008, so this movie could basically be considered the mother of all dramatic reenactments. The party goes from fun to rowdy to chaotic almost instantly. Anything that could go wrong goes wrong, and stuff is continuously thrown into the equation that constantly ups the ante. It’s pretty damn entertaining, and the handheld look adds to the scenario’s believability.
I feel that this movie could gain somewhat of a following in the long run. I mean, it’s wild enough to possibly reach Superbad levels of infamy. Maybe it might even incite an influx of parties across the country once it’s released. We’ll see what happens once March 2nd rolls around.
Oh, and Dax Flame is in this movie. That surprised the hell out of me.
Favorite scenes: Costa spreads the word around campus, The trio attempt to buy weed, Any scene involving the “security” guards](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lzv79ipJyV1qznd4ho1_r1_500.jpg)
